Gerson[edit | edit source]

Gerson, a returning character from Undertale, can rarely appear inside the first cave of the Dunes if the player's Fun Value is between 51 and 55. He offers to tell Clover stories about his past as the "Hammer of Justice," but soon forgets all his stories anyway. His full dialogue can be seen here.

During The Determined Podcast Episode 44 interview with Undertale Yellow developers (recorded roughly a year before the game's release), Master Sword claimed that Gerson was not yet in the game, but he wanted to put him in as an Easter egg due to being associated with justice.[1]

TNT Man[edit | edit source]

TNT Man[2] can be found beside a cliff in the first sandstorm room of the Dunes, holding a detonator and having painted a red X on part of the cliff wall. If spoken to, he tells Clover that he is not planning to blow up the wall to find treasure and did not steal the TNT from his brother, Bryan, in the East Mines.

If Clover returns to the room after defeating El Bailador, they can enter a cave through the now-exploded wall and find TNT Man surrounded by Micro Froggits. He has made friends with the Froggits, and tells Clover that he now values their friendship more than whatever treasure he was originally looking for.

Sandstorm Stander[edit | edit source]

A stocky pink NPC who stands on a cliff in one of the rooms with sandstorm winds. When talked to, they only have the line of dialogue "I can't standstorm this sandstorm." Once the fan causing the storm is turned off, their dialogue updates to past tense: "I couldn't standstorm that sandstorm."

After Clover leaves the Steamworks on a Pacifist Route, this NPC can be found in the southeast part of Oasis Valley, where they are now frustrated about the heat and seeing mirages. They tell Clover to stay away from any precarious paths.

Fan Fan[edit | edit source]

Fan Fan[3] is a rabbit-like monster that sits in front of the large fan causing sandstorms in the Dunes. Once the fan is turned off, they act agitated towards Clover, but decide that they should probably move to Waterfall where it is cooler.

They later show up in line for El Bailador's dance club in Hotland, impatiently waiting to be let inside after being denied entry due to the club's "crab hour".

Kanako's Friend[edit | edit source]

Kanako's Friend[5] is a pink and purple monster with a large tail who sits on the swingset found to the right of the mines. She tells Clover that the playground has become boring ever since her playmate (most likely Kanako Ketsukane) stopped showing up. Clover can sit on the swingset with her instead, after which she thanks Clover and leaves the area, saying her father must be worried about her.

A drawing of this NPC can be seen in Kanako's room of the Ketsukane Estate. This NPC is also friends with the Gamer Kid from Cafe Dune, and the two are seen playing together in the Wild East scene of the True Pacifist credits.

She was designed by TeleviQ,[6] who refers to her as Sadie.[4]

Giftshopper[edit | edit source]

Seemingly a worker of the East Mines (based on their uniform) who runs a gift shop near the mine entrance. They speak in all capitals and are quite desperate to sell their one and only product, a mug. If Clover agrees to purchase the mug, it will break on the floor when they attempt to grab it, instead allowing them to obtain the Glass Ammo for free. After this, the Giftshopper decides they will have to sell the shelves in the shop. If Clover does not purchase the mug, the Giftshopper is "disappointed but not surprised," and Clover cannot change their mind to accept the offer.

If Martlet is in the party, talking to her in this room prompts a conversation between her and the Giftshopper. The NPC will also have changed dialogue if Clover returns after leaving the Wild East, stating that "there is nothing for [them] here."

Big Cactus[edit | edit source]

Big Cactus[7] is large cactus figure who is stonebathing (sunbathing) in front of a path in the Dunes. She mentions that one day there may be something accessible through the path, but refuses to move from her spot, calling this "girlboss behavior." If Clover continues to talk to her, she becomes irritated and passive-aggressively tells them to leave.

Big Cactus does not unblock the path at any point in the game no matter the player's actions, not even on a Genocide Route. If the player uses cheats to pass her, the path behind her does not lead anywhere.

If Clover has purchased all of Mo's items throughout the game, Big Cactus appears in line for Mo's stand in a scene of the True Pacifist credits.

Big Cactus was designed by Figburn.[8]
