Trihecta are an enemy encountered in Snowdin. It consists of three monsters: Tri, Hec and Ta. They appear as a scripted encounter in the room with three signs, and as a random encounter in Snowdin afterwards.

Profile[edit | edit source]

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Trihecta are 3 ball-shaped monsters, with Tri being the green one, Hec being the red one, and Ta being the blue one. They stack on top of each other, with Tri on bottom and Ta on top.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Each member of the Trihecta family appears to have their own personality:

  • Tri appears as the oldest sibling, constantly worrying about well-being of the other siblings.
  • Hec appears grumpy, as other siblings get more attention than them, indicating they might be a middle child. When separated from their siblings, they are shown to seek independence.
  • Ta is shown to be proud, boisterous, and possibly athletic. As they are on top of Trihecta when encountered, they are the most carefree sibling.

However, as shown in their unused battle dialogue, they all still love each other despite their disagreements.

Main Story[edit | edit source]

They appear as a scripted encounter in the room with the three signs in Snowdin.

Pacifist Route[edit | edit source]

After the Martlet battle, they appear as NPCs in the room with snowcastles. Tri is relieved that they are no longer on top of each other and that the ground is good for a safe landing. Hec expresses their annoyance with Ta standing on their head. Ta asks Clover if they can come travel with them, and they could act as a good hat.

In Battle[edit | edit source]

Attacks[edit | edit source]

  • Circle Bounce: Three spheres bounce on the ground, with one lagging behind the other two.
  • Circle Reflect: Two large spheres bounce off of either side of the Bullet Box, and when bouncing off one of the spheres moves to another place.
  • Circle Stack: Three small spheres bounce off the sides of the Bullet Box to a different direction.

Strategy[edit | edit source]

Trihecta can be spared by ACTing with Push twice, or ACTing with Pull twice.

If killed together they award fewer EXP than if killed separately: 25 as opposed to 27 (). Killing them separately counts as 3 kills so this actually rewards less EXP (and G) per kill.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Their battle has unused dialogue indicating that there were supposed to be two more ACTs when the siblings are separated, but were removed during development. The second ACT's dialogue indicates it was similar to the Climb ACT, which only succeeds on Ta, and the third ACT's dialogue indicates it was supposed to create peace among the siblings by telling them to hug it out.
  • Trihecta's name sounds similar to trifecta.
    • This further implies Hec's name could be derived from the word heck, indicating their grumpy nature.
