Mail Whale
Mail Whale is recurring character in Undertale Yellow. As an employee of UGPS, he is assigned a task of delivering mail throughout the Underground and shipping others from one location to another.

Appearance[edit | edit source]
Mail Whale is a pink whale with a white underbelly and small white feathery wings. He wears a blue mailman cap on his head and a bag on his flipper.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Mail Whale acts enthusiastic about the mail when he is on the job. When Clover talks to him on break in the Wild East, he acts more casual but still says he loves his job.
Main Story[edit | edit source]
Neutral Route[edit | edit source]
Whenever Clover interacts with a UGPS station, Mail Whale descends from above and gives them mail if they have any. Mail Whale is present in the Wild East Saloon during one of Clover's breaks as an NPC to talk to. Later, in the Sunnyside Farm, he descends to inform Clover that they can now interact with UGPS stations for Fast Travel. This allows access to previously visited locations that have UGPS stations.
Mail Whale appears at the Steamworks Control Station UGPS sign with a letter from Martlet, giving it to Clover immediately without calling as she had paid for priority mail. If a Pacifist or Genocide Route is aborted in the Steamworks, Mail Whale instead does this right after The Furnace.
Pacifist Route[edit | edit source]
Mail Whale does not deliver a letter from Martlet, but otherwise is the same.
Genocide Route[edit | edit source]
While Mail Whale greets Clover in their initial encounter, he stops appearing altogether once the Snowdin kill count is exhausted. Even if the route is aborted, he will not appear when UGPS stations are rung, only able to be found at the Saloon if aborted before then and when he delivers Martlet's letter. This also means Clover cannot return to previous areas, as they cannot Fast Travel.
Creation and Development[edit | edit source]
Mail Whale was first (briefly) shown in the Snowdin trailer, and was officially revealed in the May 2018 Devlog, on Gamejolt.[1]
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Mail Whale rhymes whenever encountered at a UGPS station. At the Wild East Saloon, it is revealed to be company policy.
- While he is never referred to by third-person pronouns in the game, multiple developer materials use he/him pronouns for Mail Whale.[2]
