Mo is a raccoon salesman monster. He can be found in Snowdin, the Dunes and the Steamworks to sell Clover items. He was first revealed in the game's Snowdin trailer, alongside his theme.[1] He was again teased in the May 2018 devlog a few months later.[2]

Profile[edit | edit source]

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Mo is an anthropomorphic light brown raccoon monster. He is wearing a pair of sunglasses that obscure his eyes and has no pants.

In his Snowdin encounter, he is dressed in a professional blue suit, complemented by a pink tie. He completes his outfit with a matching blue fedora, which features a band in a slightly darker shade of blue. His ears poke through the hat. In his Dunes encounter, he pulls the blue sleeves off his suit to show the white undershirt and pulls his fedora into a top hat. In his Steamworks encounter, he is in the same outfit. However, his outfit was damaged sometime between meeting him in the Dunes and Steamworks. On the Pacifist and Neutral Route, he takes off his vest and hat during his Steamworks pitch.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Mo is highly motivated by financial success. He uses bold and brash confidence in his products to attempt to persuade Clover to buy his products whenever they encounter him. His pitches get progressively sloppier every time they meet. In spite of this, he stays dedicated to his goal, only breaking his businessman facade after his pitch completely fails, when in extreme danger, or after Clover buys every single one of his products.

Main Story[edit | edit source]

Neutral/Pacifist Route[edit | edit source]

Mo is first encountered shortly before Honeydew Resort in Snowdin. He initially appears to advertise hot chocolate, then discards it and boasts about his chocolate pops instead. In the Dunes, it is possible to encounter him in the room north of the large tree. He tries to advertise water from a cooler, but it evaporates as he pours it. He then brings out a large stand advertising ice tea that Clover can purchase from him.

In the Oasis Valley, Clover receives a letter from The Shufflers vaguely warning them against supporting Mo. Mo can be encountered during his off-time at the saloon in Wild East. His dialogue there suggests he could be in debt.

Mo can be found for the final time in the Steamworks, shortly before the end of the lake maze. He attempts to pitch his plant products as his clothes catch fire, not breaking character as he removes them. He begins to get desperate after his stand catches fire and he settles for selling Clover plants from his pockets.

If Clover purchases all of the items from his Steamworks stand, Mo has dialogue based on how many products Clover bought at the previous stands. If they did not buy any his products before this, he laments about his bad salesmanship. If they bought some, but not all, of his items from previous encounters, Mo thanks them and asserts his trustworthiness. If they bought all of his items, he drops his salesman persona to thank them for their financial help. In all of these cases, he exits on another manta bot.

The Pacifist Route credits show several different endings for Mo, depending on how many products were bought. If 0-3 items were bought, Mo sits by himself at his initial table in Snowdin with a coffee in hand. If 4-8 items were bought, Mo is at his pops stand selling to a line of people. If all 9 items were bought, The Shufflers are working for him while he relaxes.

Genocide Route[edit | edit source]

Mo passes off Clover's actions as allegations when he encounters them in the Dunes. He skips the water pitch and goes straight to selling them ice tea as normal.

If Mo is encountered in the Steamworks, Clover almost immediately pulls their gun on him. He initially panics at how his assumption of safety fell through and tries to talk Clover out of killing him. Clover can choose to rob him of 450G. If he is robbed, he laments about how he is done for. If he is not robbed, he expresses a desire to leave his lifestyle behind. In both cases, he exits on a manta bot.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Mo is based on a real racoon that AWildDaydreamer had in her attic in 2016.[3]
  • Mo admits to committing theft and tax fraud on the Genocide Route.
  • At his Snowdin and Dunes stands on the Genocide Route, his theme music slows after leaving and reentering the room.
