Unused Music Tracks
This is a page containing many tracks not present in the Undertale Yellow Soundtrack or playing in the final game.
Within the game files[edit | edit source]
dalv_diary[edit | edit source]
This track was intended to be used when reading Dalv's diary entries in his room on a Neutral Route.[1] Based on its metadata, it was created in 2016.
mail_jingle_alt[edit | edit source]
Judging by its filename, this seems to be an alternate version of the jingle heard when interacting with a UGPS sign. This jingle sounds very similar to Your Reality from the game Doki Doki Literature Club!. Based on its metadata, it was created in 2019.
micro_temperature[edit | edit source]
This track was intended to play in the Golden Coffee room, but was scrapped due to the room being too small.[2] It uses the Fun-Sized leitmotif, like other tracks associated with Micro and Macro Froggit.
Lounging Around[edit | edit source]
This track was intended to be used in the Honeydew Resort cabin instead of Relaxation when Rodney's Band wasn't playing in it. It was removed to tighten the OST.[3]
Pipin' Hot![edit | edit source]
This track played in the hot springs at Honeydew Resort for much of development but was eventually cut to tighten the OST.[4]
cafe_arcade[edit | edit source]
Judging by its filename, this seems to be either a beta version of ラブ・ブラスター!, or a scrapped theme for another arcade game in the Café Dune. Alternatively, it may have been intended to fade in dynamically when approaching the arcade machines, as seen with Mining Co-ncussion. It uses the same melody as Café Dune (Soundtrack).
trampled_flowers[edit | edit source]
Judging by its filename and melody, this seems to be a beta/alternate version of TENTH LEVEL LOCKDOWN. It uses the Greenhouse leitmotif. According to file metadata, it was composed by MyNewSoundtrack and Figburn in 2017.
mothers_love_temp / unforgiving[edit | edit source]
These two files, which are duplicates of each other, are a placeholder track for A Mother's Love, made in 2018 but left in the files by accident. The track appears to have been composed by Figburn.[5] They use the Once Upon a Time, Flowey, Justice, Ketsukane and Oasis Valley leitmotifs.
FINAL STAND[edit | edit source]
This track is an early version of Retribution, meant to play in Martlet's Genocide Route fight. NoteBlock composed this track, but it was deemed too cheerful and replaced with Retribution two months before release.[6] It uses the Martlet, Enemy Retreating and Determination leitmotifs.
Outside the game files[edit | edit source]
Break the Mold[edit | edit source]
This track was released on April 1, 2017 on YouTube by Master Sword. It is a piano rendition of All Star by Smash Mouth, meant as an April Fools joke. The piano in the song is by Master Sword's brother, emBer.
Drifting[edit | edit source]
This track was released in 2017 on YouTube by Master Sword. According to its video description, it was supposed to play in a canceled underwater area in Undertale Yellow. It was also released as a bonus track in the game's soundtrack on SoundCloud.
Oasis Valley (Beta)[edit | edit source]
This track was released in 2024 on YouTube by MyNewSoundtrack. According to the its video description, it was a theme made for Oasis Valley, but it "didn't really fit the vibe," so Figburn and Master Sword took over and composed the final version that can be heard in game. This unused version has a more similar tone to Vigorous Terrain.
Blackout[edit | edit source]
Also known as Powered Down Steamworks, this track was released in 2024 on YouTube by MyNewSoundtrack. According to the track's YouTube video description, it was supposed to play in the beginning section of the Steamworks before the power generator was turned on, upon which it would change to Meltdown. It was cut because Meltdown replacing the ambient Tomorrow Means The Surface upon powering the generator had a bigger impact, and they felt Blackout was too grandiose for the occasion.
Cool Cave[edit | edit source]
This unused track replaced Seclusion in the Dark Ruins cave area because it was too cheerful for the area.[7]
CAFE[edit | edit source]
This track was the very first theme for Café Dune, used to pitch Undertale Yellow in early 2016.[8]
Enemy Dance[edit | edit source]
This track was for an early concept for El Bailador.[9]
Demo[edit | edit source]
These tracks were in the Undertale Yellow Demo Soundtrack, but not in the final game.
To Be Continued[edit | edit source]
- Main article: To Be Continued
This track plays in the ending credits of the demo. It was also used in the Demo Launch Trailer for Undertale Yellow.
Boppin' / Micro Cavern[edit | edit source]
- Main article: Boppin'
This track is not used in the game but rather used in the demo's FIGHT Demonstration YouTube video. There were also plans to include this in the Micro Froggit secret area of the Dunes. This was cut to tighten the soundtrack.[10]
Peaceful Home / Good News and Bad News[edit | edit source]
This track used to be the 18th track in the Undertale Yellow Demo OST. It got removed from the soundtrack on YouTube at some point in development, even though it remained available on SoundCloud and Game Jolt. It was composed by Master Sword.
Judging by the original title, "Peaceful Home" and the Martlet leitmotif, it was likely planned to be possible to enter her house at some point in development. Judging by its second title, "Good News and Bad News", it was likely considered to be used for Martlet meeting Clover after the Starlo boss fight.
