The Patch is Clover's default accessory, equipped at the beginning of the game. It gives Clover 0 defense, but will make fleeing from an enemy guaranteed, similarily to the Bandage in Undertale. However, if the Patch is unequipped, it can never be equipped again, as Clover will be unable to sew it back onto their hat. Its only use after this is being sold.
